Here are some powerful home remedies for head lice

Head lice are a cause of numerous problems. They can spread from one person to another and should be taken seriously. If you comb your hair every morning and evening, you can remove any lice that got attached to your hair in the course of the day. If your kid has just come back after an overnight stay with friends and seems to have lice in the hair, do not worry. You can solve the problem by using some easy home remedies. It is always best to treat lice using home remedies rather than putting harmful chemicals into the hair.

Wet-combing

This is a traditional method of removing lice from hair. It makes the lice more visible. Spray conditioner on wet hair and comb them with a fine-toothed comb. This process is a bit time-consuming.

Other methods to get rid of head lice

  • Coat the hair with almond or olive oil. Divide the hair into small sections and comb them. Once you are done with all sections, wash the hair thoroughly with shampoo.
  • It is also necessary to maintain hygiene. Wash all towels and combs that are used to comb the hair treated with lice. Soak the comb in 10% bleach solution and rinse thoroughly. Thorough combing daily should be continued for 2 weeks to ensure all the lice are gone.
  • Treatment with essential oils: A number of essential oils are known to eliminate head lice. Essential oils should never be consumed as they are toxic. Remember to dilute the essential oil in a carrier oil. Do a patch test and then apply to the hair. Do not use if you are allergic to any essential oil. The essential oils that are known to treat lice are neem oil, tea tree oil, clove oil, lavender oil, nutmeg oil, peppermint oil, and aniseed oil.
